Mobilizing three brands through simplicity

Senda x Brands&People

In Mexico, 97% of travel occurs on buses. The transport industry helps move the country’s economy since it represents 3% of its GDP and boosts multiple sectors. Nine million people travel by bus each day to visit relatives, enjoy a vacation spot or get to work every week in large cities and go back home on the weekends in the surrounding states.

Traveling by bus allows people to reach any corner of Mexico and even further. A great option for today’s budget-conscious consumers looking to access and collect more experiences. However, the current offer does not always live up to the travelers' expectations.

To win new growth opportunities and be at the forefront of the industry, one the main players, Grupo Senda, recently streamlined its commercial strategy and planned to relaunch three bus lines that serve different needs and routes for travelers. They commissioned Brands&People to redesign these three brands.

In an overly-ornate category, we chose to go the opposite way. Our challenge was to create something simple for powerful. Not only for the sake of beauty, but also for function. Repainting damaged spots is increasingly difficult and costly when the design on the bus in more intricate. We decided to solve that problem.

Three brands, one company

We wanted Grupo Senda buses to be powerful brands in motion. For each of the three brands we redesigned, we let simplicity take the wheel.

First, we updated Senda's corporate brand with simplified lines and a modern red color, which was the base to design their premium line of buses, Senda Diamante. The branding principle we used throughout all brands was the same: power through simplicity.

With this in mind, we also redesigned the Transportes del Norte brand. We used simple forms and powerful colors and took it even further, updating its naming. We dropped “Transportes” to the background and highlighted “Del Norte” -as a shorter and more memorable name with the potential to become ingrained in the everyday language of Senda's consumers and staff.

Lastly, we redesigned the branding for their international line of buses, Turimex, using the same primary-color brand palette to update their logo, creating more modern and clean lines that shape an eagle, a play on the corporate logo, placed over a gray background.

Overall, we believe in developing brands that make consumers' life simpler. Simplicity is a mighty strategy that brings growth, loyalty and value. By cutting through the clutter, we helped Grupo Senda become a bold family of brands focused on delivering what people want: better experiences, no gimmicks. It's not only about getting people to their destination but about making their journeys brighter, therefore unique.
